What We Have So Far (None of this is actual canon yet, but mere fleshing out and first draft type stuff, feel free to add on!):
Lion Empire is a large, galaxy spanning hegemony that has numerous alien slave races under its command, and the Lions themselves are assumed to be alien-looking humans (i.e. they're people, but they have a third eye or a tail or weird hair or something)*. They have ships shaped like sword hilts. They're fighting against humankind for *we don't have a good reason yet, put one here*, and they initialy control Ada Zul/Zuru, one of their ace pilots who eventually defects to the good side with VA-INA, but not before giving the Lions the plans they need to mass produce the ENIS. Mood-wise they are described as "pretty one-dimentional "Skelator" bad guys". Another idea was for the Lion Empire to consist of many different alien races, as it allows for more interesting/varied/fun character design.
Copypasta'd ideas: 1.Lions are a large and hungry race that must constantly expand and devour more and more in order to support their massive civilization. 2.Cliche "Humans are the most powerful beings in the universe, we must crush them!" plot. 3.Lions view the destruction of civilizations as the ultimate form of sport. Ours is deemed a suitably challenge. 4.The Professor somehow arrives on Earth after his own civilization is eaten/destroyed/absorbed into the lion empire (whatever) and he takes ENIS with him, prompting the Lion to hunt it down. 5.Lions are mysterious badasses who just attack you and you beat them but you never learn why they attacked you or really,anything about them. 6.Lions have come due to manifest destiny to claim the whole universe. 7.Earth, way back when, fought and defeated the Lions and then they both regressed back to a caveman like state due to the sheer devastation the war caused. The Lions evolved back faster than humans and started anew the war. Expanding on the 'Lion Empire consists of many different alien races' idea, the different alien races may each have their own ideas about conducting the war against FAP, ranging from fleets of starships to hordes of power armor to squadrons of real types to a collection of super-types, giving ENIS & company a variety of enemies to defeat. The Lion Empire can be divided into different racial factions or Houses. The Lion Emperor encourages this rivalry & competition as he (it?) believes that this would make the Empire stronger. He draws the line at actual inter-faction combat, though.
Lion Empire Vs. FAP
The Lion Empire is a fleet of evil, xenophobic aliens. They have conquered and enslaved countless worlds before Ohta's. They operate mainly on a super robot/MotW style, and they are always assimilating new tech from dead or dying worlds. They plan to take over Ohta's planet, as it is an important waypoint in the larger war. Whoever conquers and controls the planet will have the upper hand in the war for the universe.
Ohta's Planet contains a new alloy or some sort of important item that could change the tide of war which is why both warring factions desperately seek it. Idea-Gattai! Plus a bit more! The Lions were once a race of conquerors. In time they overtook the galaxy ravaging civilizations and consuming their populations in a bizzare ritual necessitated by sport, spiritualism, instincts, and their need to expand. In time, their campaign of terror was at last stopped by the collective forces of man, but the destruction was so complete that both sides were utterly decimated, the dwindling remains of their populations spread across countless worlds, regressing into primitive shadows of thier former civilizations. It is now many thousands of years later, and a fierce but ultimately benevolant empire calling themselves the Lions seek to unify their wayword worlds under one banner, desperate to put a stop to their legendary enemies: the Human Race, who, as their ancient history has told them, are the single most dangerous threat to peace across the galaxy. The professor, a human scientist suspended in stasis, has been delicately crafting the ultimate super-robot on his automated factory orbiting Planet Awesome(Ohta's planet, plz give better name) while completely unaware of the war's ending. On the momentous occasion that ENIS, his pride and joy, is completed, he sends an open broadcast to the planet, and the galaxy at large, proclaiming to the Lion empire that their reign is through! Of course, by this time, Lion territory is much closer to Planet Awesome than during the war, and they respond to the challenge. The Professor is forced to engage with the Lion scouting party, and specificly, its ace pilot, the Professor fares rather poorly, as his life support system begins to shut down and his body begins to deteriorate, in a last ditch effort, he plummets to the outskirts of the largest settlement he can see on the planet down below... (cont'd)Ohta is a human miner from Planet Awesome, a world owned by the Federation of Allied Planets, which is famous for being about as far away from Earth (A world near the galactic core, the center of the F.A.P. government) as is possible. His life is changed forever when ENIS crash-lands, and the professor, seconds away from dying, charges Ohta with taking ENIS, and the lab, to Earth. Ohta accepts the challenge as Lion forces reign death uppon the planet, and ENIS flies him back to the orbiting station, which converts into a ship which begins on a course headed into the uncharged regions of the galaxy. Ohta, of course, corrects this error and the ship heads towards FAP's homeworld. On his journey, Ohta will have to face down the increasingly hostile forces of the Lion empire, while gradualy becoming aware that FAP space is being threatened on the opposite side by a mysterious alien force from the uncharted regions... With his will, and the power of the mighty ENIS, he will make a discovery that will change the course of history forver. (Hint: The Lions are extinct, the new Lions have some of their DNA, and the DNA of a certain other race. The mysterious forces from the uncharted regions call themselves 'M.A.N.')
