Manga is now banned from /a/ - Anime & Manga.

/a/day, also known as the /a/ Civil War, was the day moot divided /a/ into two boards (the other being /jp/) and banned a lot of formerly /a/ kosher content(not to mention posters) from /a/. Universally considered the most unexpected, shitstorm-inducing event in /a/'s history (even moreso than SaiGar 2008, which had been rolling strong for several months), the split and erection of the Weeaboo Wall between the communities estranged Anonymous' relationship with moot and plunged both boards into chaos. /a/day also marked the demise of nightshift /a/, bringing an end to four months worth of quality posting.

Precursor

In early February 2008, words appeared in the announcement box below the website banners mentioning there would be some changes in the coming month to the imageboard system, such as the addition of new boards (particularly /toy/ for /a/ssholes, since it would be a substitute for their shitty /fig/ board). On 17 February 2008, moot appeared in /a/ for the first time since the b& of a Planetes troll who started a topic with the title, "Bad anime ITT" in December of 2007.[1] The topic he posted in was started by an Anonymous who wanted to know what Aruru's (from Utawarerumono) combo finishing technique did, since it only manifests late in the game once Gacktar has been obtained. moot expressed annoyance at the Utawarerumono game being posted in /a/, which lead to a rush of Anonymous to defend the title's place among anime and manga despite being distinctly neither. Other Anonymous seize the opportunity of having moot's attention to lobby for their own shitty boards, particularly /vn/[2] (which was never asked for before this topic) and the long bemoaned /fig/ board.[3][4] After fielding some questions about requests and banning a few people, moot mentioned he would be fiddling with 4chan in a few days, but made no mention as to the nature of these changes[5] except a desire to increase the posting limit. A perceptive Anonymous pointed out that moot had originally mentioned a Japan board as a possible new addition[6], but that addition was removed from the announcement box as confirmed by moot[7]. Following this came a horde of posts bitching about what was /a/ legal or not, from visual novels to figurines and other weeaboo shit. moot didn't comment throughout these arguments but apparently took them into consideration, making one final post toward the end of the thread's lifetime to say (hilariously) "MODS = FAGS". The topic died quietly after being derailed by several tripfags, though it would have been far more active had /a/ known exactly what moot was planning for it in the coming days.
