A file sharing site is any site that you can upload files to, in order to share them with others. This usually involves some sort of count down timer delay before you can download the file, unless you pay for a premium account, in which case you can bypass the timer, and sometimes download the file directly without a landing page.

RapidShit
RapidShit is the nickname for the file hosting site RapidShare. RapidShare is the original well known file sharing site, originally named rapidshare.de. rapidshare.de ended up screwing everyone by shutting down without notice, this was around the time when competitors started appearing, and they were all better than RapidShare at what they were doing. RapidShare, at the same time as shutting down their .de site, made rapidshare.com, which ended up being just as shit. The two sites pretended that they weren't affiliated in order to prevent people who paid for a premium account on the .de site from being able to use the .com site.
