/b/day was the day that Anonymous revolted against 4chan and truly became their own soveriegn nation on the internet.

Pre-history

The events leading up to /b/day started off like any other day in /b/: Memes, copypasta, desu, jailbait, calls to invasions and furries all co-existed on /b/. However, tensions had been raising higher and higher over the past couple months, especially in the Invasions front: The amount of raids that Anon would partake in skyrocketed over the summer of 2006, starting with a flawless victory over Zelda Guide in June, leading right into July with the now-legendary July 12th raid on Habbo Hotel, dozens of smaller Habbo raids followed by an attack on Zelda Universe and countless raids on smallers InvisionFree forums, MySpace pages, and people on Stickam.

As August progressed, things escalated, with /b/tards pretending to be members from the cesspool known as MyG0t riling up Anon on August 22nd. After a mildly successful attack on MyG0t, Anonymous banded together for a series of raids on furfags, deciding it was time to rid /b/ of their kind once and for all. With a group of /b/tards bringing ruin to Proana.us at roughly the same time, a small but fierce war party led by Captain Cornflake zeroed in on Teenbabynet.org as their first strike against the furry menace. With the attack well underway, news of this offensive spread throughout /b/, with more and more Anon participating in the attack until Teenbabynet was brought to a total lockdown. With the troops now amassed and rearing to go, the Captain led the angry anons to a bigger target: WikiFur. With the WikiFur chat room in complete disarray, and sysops who couldn't even keep up with the assault, the unthinkable happened: The mods of 4chan decided it was time to enforce the 'no raids' rule.

Civil War Begins

Furfags own 4chan?

Nobody is sure what happened to prompt it, but the consensus among Anon is that the furry mods of 4chan decided to start enforcing the rule in order prevent the downfall of WikiFur. This is held up by a post on AnonIB in a thread that attempted to continue the attack on WikiFur before the troops turned all their focus to 4chan, with WikiFur's 'GreenReaper' taunting Anon. (see right) Along with banning for jailbait, the furfag mod team handed bans out like candy to every Anon who started a thread about or participated in a thread dealing with raids or jailbait. moot himself came out and posted this on /b/:

Policy Enforcement
Participating in a thread dealing with illegal content will get you globally banned for two weeks (thread starter is indefinitely banned). This means merely replying to it removes you from this site for a minimum of two weeks. This includes JB and any other "grey area" threads. Posting any piece of personal information or inciting/participating in an invasion of any sort will also get you, and anybody who replied to the thread globally banned. You have the option to either report or ignore (not reply to) threads that break the rules. Thanks!
Note: To clarify, this applies to THREADS breaking the rules, not REPLIES. If somebody breaks the rules in a REPLY the entire thread won't be banned. Again, exploiting this clause to break the rules will get you banned. These rules aren't anything new--we've just adopted a new way of enforcing them.
There is literally a "Ban thread" button now, so it isn't a chore to do. Abide by the rules and your own common sense.

Anon was outraged, not only at the clear conflict-of-interest that the members of the mod team held, but at the fact that the core part of /b/ is supposed to be "no rules." Anon didn't do much at first, aside from test the mods by posting jailbait and calls to arms against the furries. Once Anon was banned by the hundreds, they knew this wasn't a joke, and they took up residence at WTFux, anonIB, 2ch.ru and 2ch.us.

Exodus to 7chan

Many a /b/tard abandoned 4chan's /b/, declaring 4chan to no longer be host to Anonymous. One anon set up an /invasions/ board on anonIB, and used the curl script to flood /b/, letting all the /b/tards know of the migration to the new /invasions/ board. A topic was set up on /invasions/, detailing how to download and use curl. Eventually, 7chan was brought back from the dead as a place to collect wayward /b/tards. Word spread quickly among Anon, and they abandoned their temporary outposts in favor of 7chan, where they convened for one final battle.

With Anon gathered together, Captain Cornflake authored the Declaration of /b/ Independence, which was used in conjunction with the curl scripts to flood 4chan:

When in the course of /b/tard events, it becomes necessary for anonymous to break free from the shackles of oppression set forth by the Furfag mods of 4chan.org.
They have plundered our posts, and deprived us of our jailbait.
They have forced upon us their twisted idealogy of "Furry Fandom."
They have deprived us of our ability to fight our enemies, forcing us to submit to the wishes of the Furfag overlords.
In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated bans from our homeland. A Prince, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free anonymous.
We, therefore, the Representatives of the Anonymous States of /b/, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good Anonymous of these Colonies, solemnly publish and declare, That /b/ is, and of Right ought to be Free and Independent States, that they are Absolved from all Allegiance to the 4chan Crown, and that all political connection between /b/ and the State of 4chan, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as Free and Independent States, they have full Power to levy War, conclude Peace contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Acts and Things which Independent States may of right do. — And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.
We are Anonymous. We are /b/. Our home is no longer on 4chan. In these times of unrest, we have formed the State of 7chan.org as our new sovereign nation on the World Wide Internet.

The thousands of /b/tards quickly amassed on 7chan and did the impossible, successfully invading 4chan's /b/ in a round of civil war. Eventually, an uncountable amount of /b/tards started using the curl script, and in an impressive display of patriotism, brought down the img server that 4chan's /b/ was on due to an insane amount of flooding. (Some would call it reminiscent of a DDoS attack) Reports from the battleground state that the hard drives on the server (as well as another 4chan server) were completely fucked. The rest of the /b/tards who had not yet been banned flooded onto 7chan and almost raped the server, but it barely held out.

The Aftermath

4chan came back up a couple days later, and 7chan users took hands on spreading 7chan propaganda and attempting to invade /b/ once more. However, the 7channers were unable to repeat the feat, with this second invasion resulting in failure. However, 7 had amassed a sizable userbase through all of this, and has become a sizable presence in the *chan community because of this.

As time went on over the following weeks, the "civil war" was looked back on with much lulz. The "factions" of 7chan and 4chan aren't as strong as they were in late August, with much of anonymous reconciling. The "stricter rules" at 4chan aren't being enforced as much as they were, and though much anonymous is still peeved at the supposed "furfag takeover" of their original home, 7chan has served to be a refuge for /i/nsurgents to work the destruction of the internet. Eventually, 420chan took notice of anon's needs to attack websites, and now runs their own /i/nvasions board, with many users jumping between 7 and 420, using one as a mirror when the other is down.

Ironically enough, 7chan has a /fur/ board, despite the site being born out of a hatred for furfags. However, the /fur/ board keeps that kind of faggotry out of the other boards, so anon can keep them in check for the inevitable Day of Reckoning.

It should be noted that even with practically no long-term damage done to 4chan, it was the most successful raid in 4chan history on /b/. With 4 and 7chan now both on somewhat-friendly terms, it is highly unlikely that such a feat will ever be repeated again.
